When Wells Run Dry: Drought and Farming in the County - Bay of Quinte Greens’ Speaker Series
“When Wells Run Dry: Drought and Farming in the County”
2025 brought one of the most severe droughts in the County’s history, forcing farmers to adapt in real time to water scarcity. This event moves beyond abstract climate debates to hear from local farmers about what drought means - for crops, livestock, livelihoods, and the future of food production in the County.
Our Panel:
Don Wilford will give a brief overview of climate change and GHG emissions in the County followed by a panel discussion, including farmers: Andy Margetson (beef), Sam Branderhorst (dairy) and Dave Gillinghham (grapes).
The panel will be led by our President, Robin Reilly.

The Barrel Boys Concert
Bluegrass is coming to Picton!
The Barrel Boys hit The Andrew stage on Sunday, March 22 at 4:30pm with an electrifying mix of bluegrass and roots music.

Why do economic crises keep surprising us, even though they seem to happen again and again? Using system dynamics rather than equilibrium theory, Ty Keynes shows that instability is built into the structure of the economy itself and that understanding this changes how we think about government, money, climate risk, and inequality.
Our Speaker:
Ty Keynes is an economist and system dynamics researcher whose work brings engineering-style dynamic modeling into economics. His research challenges equilibrium-based thinking and focuses on how feedback, debt, and policy shape real-world economics.
