What is the relationship between the congregation that identifies itself as A Circle of Friends and The Andrew?

The congregation (A Circle of Friends) owns the building and the property, and will continue to be stewards of this community resource in support of our vision.       

Who oversees The Andrew and its staff?

A Circle of Friends has established a Business Management Team composed of congregational members and members of sub-committees from the wider community.

The congregation has also established a team called The Friends of the Andrew who serve as ambassadors for the vision of the Andrew and will raise money for capital expenses in support of this vision. The Friends of the Andrew will eventually become a separate not-for-profit and will apply for charitable status so that The Andrew can issue tax receipts. For the time being A Circle of Friends (the organization with the charitable number) will issue tax receipts for gifts to The Andrew directed towards the unique expenses of The Andrew: staff and upgrades to the building and property in support of the vision of The Andrew.

Is The Andrew still a Presbyterian Church?

The Andrew is a building and public community space. The congregation who identify themselves as A Circle of Friends is associated with the Presbyterian Church in Canada. However, The Andrew warmly welcomes events and guests of all backgrounds. The polity of the Presbyterian Church in Canada allows us to manage the building, and head administrators in the denomination applaud the direction we have taken and believe that it could serve as a model for other traditional church buildings.  

The majority of those who participate in A Circle of Friends are those who are committed to a forward looking vision based on curiosity, creativity, and courage.
